This week in class we had a guest speaker visit to talk about another group's project. I was really interesting to hear about what direction that group is going in for their project. In our group we talked to Wanda about making arrangements to go to Chestnut Ridge, New York to visit the Pfeiffer Center. We decided to contact the center to see if we could make a trip up there on Saturday February 17th, and we are all really excited.

Additionally this week on my own I decide to look into exactly what biodynamics is all about. I used the Pfeiffer Center's website to learn more about it. Like I said in last week's post, Rudolf Steiner shaped the idea of biodynamics. He came up with the idea because of the declining health and vitality of farmer's crops, plants, and animals. The biodynamic approach to plant and land care uses a combination of techniques for having healthy soil and builds an awareness for the unseen forces behind living things. Biodynamics is a self regulating process, and the goal overall is to maintain and raise vitality of soil and produce. I think the most important idea within this type of agriculture is the idea of healing the Earth as we work with it.
