Adventure Part 2 -- Pfeiffer, Co-Op, and so much more!

This past Friday, Sabrina and myself traveled to visit the Pfeiffer Center! It was a lot of fun. We went with people in other classes so it was really nice to learn from those people about why they chose to have an environmental studies double major and how learning what we do has affected their lives thus far. Once we got to the center, it started snowing. It was very cold, but also freezing. So, we hung out with Mac in a heated bungalow and just talked about 'biodynamics'. The snow stopped so we ended up venturing out and taking a tour of the Pfeiffer Center.

A few weeks ago, the greenhouse at the center was vacant. There wasn't a lot growing there. That was not the case this time! There was a lot of activity in the greenhouse! A picture below will document what was seen on this past trip!

There is a lot of growth happening within the beds of this green house. What's really cool about this greenhouse is that the beds seem to go directly into the Earth and they are raised!

Another fun thing we got the opportunity to do at the Pfeiffer Center is visit the horses and cows. So as we mentioned previously, the center has two horses names Captain and Paris. They are absolutely beautiful and so sweet. The Pfeiffer Center definitely has a good relationship with their work horses. A fun fact about these horses is actually that they don't have mental shoes. Their hooves are trimmed by the staff at the Pfeiffer Center.

We also got to see the cows! The cows all have names and they are Jersey cows, otherwise known as milking cows. The cows were so cute and the babies grow so quickly! We were able to pet these beautiful, toddler Jersey cows. They were so sweet! Mac informed us that in order to build a good relationship with the cows, a human needs to be with the cow and interacting with it, in the first few minutes of its birth so it is comfortable. I thought that was so interesting.

We also visited the co-op which is a grocery store filled with delicious things! I brought home some treats and my family couldn't be more happy! Thank you for having us once again ThreeFold and Pfeiffer Center! We are so excited to work with you!
