This week in our Capstone class, we reviewed the book chapter. We also celebrated Valentine's Day by having some Organic Fair Trade chocolate which was delicious. And we started watching a film called 'Fierce Green Fire'. In the film, the movie is talking about the Sierra Club, in which we finished Act I of the movie. We will be watching more of it next week, so I will update you on more facts about the movie.
This week we FINALLY went to the Pfeiffer Center. This was really cool because we were able to meet Mac Mead and learn about the garden. I learned that there are several different preps that they put in the compost. They add about a teaspoon to the soil. I also learned that biodynamics is more than just the science. It is also about the idea that "something bigger" is out there in the world. The world is a big place and it is not just our physical presence now that matters. Everything around us, below us, and surrounding us is connected. It was a really cool experience. My group-mates and I also had the opportunity to meet two of their work horses named Captain and Paris. Captain is 19 years old and will soon be 20. He was so cute! And Paris has three braids, he also was very sweet!
This is such a wonderful opportunity that has come before us. The Pfeiffer Center is a wonderful community of people who truly care for the Earth and want to educate the youth on the planet and what it gives us. This center utilizes the ideas of Rudolf Steiner who was way ahead of time and truly has knowledge on how to heal the grounds of this planet.
