Research Week 1: Overview

What is biodynamics?

  • holistical, ecological, and ethical approach to farming, gardening, food and nutrition

  • based off of the suggestions of Dr. Rudolf Steiner (look at Research tab in bar)

  • started in the early 1920s

  • Is carried out in a variety of climates, contexts, and economic and ecological settings

  • Goal: diversified and balanced farming ecosystem

  • A form of organic farming

  • Uses preparation to restore the life within the farm and soil

  • Biodynamics can be used with animals and plants

  • Biodynamic initiatives seek to embody ecological, social, and economic sustainability

What is sustainability?

  • meets the needs of the present without compromising the needs of the future

  • avoidance of the depletion fo natural resources to maintain an ecological balance

  • A way of life
